The Melrose branch of Arthritis Research UK is celebrating its 45th birthday this year.
To celebrate, it is hosting the Borders Challenge 45, and challenging everyone in the Borders, individually and in groups, to raise at least £45.
Beth Duff was the first to accept the challenge. With her dog, Jess, she is walking 5k on 45 consecutive days with her own challenge to raise £450. Can you help her to reach this target?
Beth’s challenge will be launched at a Branch Coffee Morning on Saturday 7th April, in the Corn Exchange, Melrose, from 10-11.30am. Entrance is £2.50.
Go along, support the branch, meet Beth, join her list of sponsors and, perhaps, offer to walk with her on one or more days. You can contribute to her challenge by visiting her Just Giving page.
This worthwhile, but lesser known charity, does not hit the headlines. But one in 10 people in the UK have, or will have, one or more forms of arthritis.
It’s not life threatening, but its life changing and research to find a cause and, therefore, a cure for 200 different forms of arthritis, costs a lot of money.

As part of the 45th birthday celebrations, the gardens at Carolside, Earlston, will be open, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Foyle, on Sunday 24th June.
It’s a rare opportunity to see the gardens, described by ‘Scotland for Gardeners’ as ‘one of Scotland’s finest private gardens’, from 10am-5pm.
