Borderline, the free local helpline for adults experiencing emotional distress, was given six months’ notice in November by Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders that its funding will cease. According to Borderline, the decision was “a money-saving exercise, with no criticism of the quality of the service, which has always been highly regarded.”
A letter has now gone out from the helpline, which states: “The decision to end our funding is a devastating one for us and we have been told that there is no right to appeal against it. However, because of our unwavering commitment to the provision of this service for people of the Scottish Borders, we intend to pursue a continuation of the current funding.
We would be very grateful for any support you might be able to give to Borderline in this process.”
