A fundraiser from Hawick has been presented with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her services to charity.
Isabella Halliday received the honour from the Lord-Lieutenant of Roxburgh, Ettrick and Lauderdale, the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KT .
She has raised around £60,000 over the past 20 years for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), to support sick children in Scotland.
She has achieved this by organising car boot and table-top sales, making and selling marmalade and jam, arranging charity ‘pop-up’ shops, and holding an annual lunch for around 180 people.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Roxburgh, Ettrick and Lauderdale, the Duke of Buccleuch, said: “It was a great honour to meet Isabella Halliday and present her with this British Empire Medal. Each year she works tirelessly to raise money for sick children and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Mrs Halliday is a credit to her community and a worthy recipient of this honour.”
