Peebles-based The Food Foundation is among just 12 shortlisted organisations – and the only Scottish Borders project to make the first round – in this year’s Royal Bank of Scotland Skills & Opportunities Fund.
And you can help this local social enterprise by voting for it to receive funding to launch a new project.
The Food Foundation provides catering and opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the employment market. It ensures students are provided with accredited training, personal development and work opportunities.
It is looking to set up Food Foundation Favourites, bringing a range of preserved products to market. Students and volunteers will design, create, cook, test, market and sell a range of preserved Food Foundation products.
The project will support the work of the Food Foundation, give it an extra income stream, and enable those who take part to gain valuable work and life skills experience.
The Royal Bank of Scotland is making £140,000 available across Scotland through its Skills & Opportunities Fund. The Scottish board (with the help of a public vote) will determine the destination of grants of up to £35,000.
You can vote for the Food Foundation on the Fund’s website until Friday 20th April.
