A Borders charity that helps people who have been affected by acquired brain injury, has just moved into a new base in Galashiels.
Headway Borders offers support to those with serious brain injuries, and their carers and families.
The group has been going for seven years, and last year moved into temporary premises in a church in the town. Now, it has a permanent home in the Focus Centre.
Headway Borders, part of Headway UK, supports those affected by brain injury by offering understanding, knowledge and support. It’s a peer group too, and its members have different levels of ability.
Chairman Rogan Grant says the group gives people who have survived brain injuries the chance to talk about it with others.
He explained that 400,000 people have an acquired brain injury each year in the UK, including almost 300 in the Borders.
The group now meets in the Focus Centre on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
If you or someone you care for has survived any form of Acquired Brain Injury, you are welcome to join the group.
Volunteers are also needed by Headway Borders to support its members. Various levels of assistance are required, from admin to general service and activities.
