A new Berwickshire social enterprise, Sea the Change, is leading a Plastic Free Eyemouth campaign, to help the community eliminate single use plastic.
And at a film screening on Thursday 12th July, at 7pm in the EU Church, Eyemouth, local people will get a chance to find out how they can become involved.
It’s just one of the activities that the initiative has launched with the aim of creating happier, healthier and more sustainable communities.
Based in Eyemouth, Sea the Change wants to encourage the community to get outdoors, connect with others, and make some small changes to reduce the environmental impact.
Formed by Alice Fisher and Juliana Amaral, Sea the Change will be hosting a series of events, activities and campaigns to improve health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation and raise environmental awareness.
It is also working with First Glass Deliveries to re-introduce the delivery of milk in glass bottles to Berwickshire.
And it wants to set up a Beach Wheelchair scheme to give everyone the same chances to enjoy the outdoors, regardless of their abilities.
Other activities that are being organised by Sea the Change include:
Beach School
At Coldingham beach, children will learn about beach safety, the tides, and the creatures that live on the shores. to the beach to learn about our beautiful coastal environment. A Ranger from the Voluntary Marine Reserve will be on hand and the programme will be delivered by a fully-trained Beach Schools Practitioner.
Socially Conscious Film Club
