Community projects vying for a share of Scottish Borders Council’s Localities Bid Fund will find out later this month if they have been successful or not.
The recent severe weather hampered efforts to retrieve ballot boxes containing thousands of paper voting forms across the region. This has resulted in a slight delay to the counting process.
Councillor Sandy Aitchison, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Locality Services said: “The heavy snow meant we weren’t able to get all the paper votes in to be scanned and counted as quickly as we would have liked. However we are still on course to announce the successful projects at some point this month.
“I know a lot of people are waiting to hear if they are getting funding and we will let them know as soon as possible.”
The paper ballots will be counted alongside over 6,500 online votes, with £208,000 available across five different areas.
